Hope Rally
In response to the acts of youth violence, there will be a Hope Rally on Friday Dec. 5 from 4-6 p.m. at Central Youth and Family Services. There will be a variety of speakers including Seattle NAACP President James Bible. For more information call event coordinator Arlene E. Jobs Meeting
The Community Coalition for Contracts and Jobs (CCCJ) will meet on Dec. 9, at 6 p.m.  at the Central Area Motivation Program (CAMP) 722 18th Avenue in Central Seattle. There will be only one meeting in December, but if action must be taken or economic justice spoken for, they will reconvene. There is still  a 48 hour window to convey small/minority business issues to President-Elect Barak Obama's transition team.

Special Election Candidates
A special three-day candidate filing for the county's chief election official is planned for Wednesday, Dec. 10 through Friday, Dec. 12, 2008. Candidates interested in this non-partisan position will need to file in person or by mail at election headquarters in Renton from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  State law directs that special filing periods be only three days rather than the traditional five-day filing period.  Included will be a special candidate filing for five commissioner positions in the proposed Fall City Metropolitan Park District, also on the February ballot.
Voters approved charter amendment 1, choosing to elect the director of the Elections Division in the upcoming Feb. 3, 2009 special election. Most recently the director has been appointed by the County Executive and confirmed by the Metropolitan County Council.

Students: Join ACT-SO
The Seattle/King County NAACP hosts the Afro-Academic, Cultural, Technological and Scientific Olympics — ACT-SO, with the first workshop scheduled Dec. 6 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Langston Hughes Performing Arts Center West Room.
ACT-SO is not a talent show but an opportunity for youth to showcase their skills and abilities in the sciences, humanities, performing and visual arts and business. There are 25 categories to compete in. So, if you sing, dance, play an instrument, do a computer science project, draw, paint, do a sculpture, are a photograph, write a poem, play, original essay, music composition, film making/video, do a dramatic presentation or develop a business plan come learn how to show what you can do and win medals and a trip to New York.
